Lead Hair and Makeup Artist, T. Cooper of Metro Look, and her team were sponsored by ECRU New York, Pacifica Beauty, and Olivia Garden to create wet hair and makeup looks for the Romeo Hunte show at the Meatpacking District rooftop venue PH-D Lounge. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Hunte turned down two full athletic scholarships in Track and Field to pursue his dream of becoming a fashion designer. He decided to face the challenges of the fashion industry by first attending the Fashion Institute of Technology and later launching his own independent fashion brand in 2014
The look was given the name “Water Works”. This collection was inspired by the water, so it featured a lot of swimsuits and skin suits. We wanted the hair and makeup to match the pieces, and so we decided to give the models a wet appearance – as if they had just come out of the ocean or a pool. “I knew that simply wetting the hair wouldn’t have worked well, it would’ve dried with the air conditioning inside of the venue, and models with curly hair probably would have experienced some frizzing” said Cooper. “We applied the same logic to makeup, a face sprayed with water would eventually dry, so we had to go another route to achieve the look of a drenched face.”
For hair:
The stylist started off by brushing the hair with an Olivia Garden iDetangle brush. The curly haired models were sprayed down with Revitalizating Curl Mist, and Silk Nectar Serum was used on top for maximum shine. For the straight haired models the stylists applied a generous amount of Marine Thickening Balm to make the hair look soaked. The style was finished by using the tail of an Olivia Garden CarbonSilk comb to pull out random pieces of hair to fall in the face.
For makeup:
The artists started off by spritzing the face with Rose Flower Hydro Mist. The lips were prepped with Lemon Sugar Lip Scrub exfoliate dead skin, afterward Summer Kale lip balm applied. The artists created flawless skin by applying Crystal Blur Illuminating Foundation only where needed to cover redness and blemishes. Next, the artists used Stunning Brows Eyebrow Gloss to tame brows hairs, and finished by generously covering the entire face with Gem Serum Radiant Drops to mimic the appearance of a wet face
