XEX presents the exclusive premiere of “Wanna Be With You” a new single from Polish-born, now NYC based artist, Knifekick. “Wanna Be With You” comes from Knifekick’s forthcoming EP, “This Could Be Forever,” which is the finished product of the solo project by Matt Gorny.
“Wanna Be With You started out from a guitar riff that became the main hook, says Matt Gorny AKA Knifekick . It sounds like it’s a synthesizer, but it was done on my 1965 Hagstrom III guitar, just somewhat processed. The note spacing in the hook led to the reggae rhythm which is just a fun fact on how to start a song.
My favorite lyric is “ten ton tank”. It cracks me up because it must be a really small tank actually, some miniature prototype or a mistake in measurement translations like the tiny Stonehenge in the film This Is Spinal Tap.”
Matt has been likened to a Polish version of Oasis – and with the catchy guitar hooks, it’s not far off!
