I received an invitation to see the Spring Summer 2013 presentation of NINH during fashion week, not quite sure what to expect I invited the XEX team to join me in checking out what seemed to be an interesting designer. Our expectations were blown away the minute we walked in the Chelsea loft that hosted the sagacity of this Parisian menswear designer currently based in New York City.
Ninh’s S/S13 ambiguous collection is not for just any man, it is for the intellectual and cultured, the passionate and open-minded, a modern-day Renaissance man. Well-groomed and tailored, has proper etiquette and respects others – the quintessential Gentleman. Ninh, 28, a full‐time designer, graduated from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, came to the U.S. with a sense of style all his own. He has remained inspired by tailoring British and European fit and his line portrays a slight Asian and/or military influence.
The past couple of years have seen much success for this designer’s collections, he became a two‐time YMA Fashion Scholarship fund winner and received best menswear line award for the Arts of Fashion competition.
His designs have been featured in The Fashionisto, Fantastics Bello, Yellow, NYLON Guys magazines, as well as on NBC’s The Voice worn by competitor Tony Vincent. In my experience not only of this collection I got to see so close, but of the event itself and the reaction of the many editors and fashionistas present, we will be seeing a lot more from this brilliant designer. We wish him all the success in the world and we cannot wait to showcase his work in the pages of our magazine.
