Though it’s been 20 years since Kurt Cobain tragically took his own life, the Nirvana singer’s legacy lives on in the band’s music and present-day culture. To honor the god of grunge, photographer Jesse Frohman just unveiled a collection of pictures he took of the late singer and his band mates at an exhibition at the Morrison Hotel Gallery inside Dream Downtown Hotel.
The images date to some of the very last photos of Cobain and are highly sought after: “These iconic images of Kurt Cobain in his final days are a testament to Grunge and pop culture in the ‘90s…These are some of the most sought after pictures of Cobain and The Morrison Hotel Gallery is thrilled to present them to the public in this unique exhibition.”
In the photo shown above, Frohman caught a perfect glimpse of Cobain expressing his inner conflicts, which ranged between thrift store gawdiness and the expression of a genius artist who fought addictions at the same time. “Cobain appears as a goofily provocative iconoclast, with his vintage air force cap, Jackie O. sunglasses and leopard jacket, while revealing a more depressing side of the life of a great artist dependent on drugs.”
The exhibit which runs from April 4th until May 6th, marks the second joint venture for the two. Back in September, Morrison Hotel Gallery unveiled a pop gallery in Dream Downtown, gorgeously accenting the hotel’s gracefully chic aesthetic with timeless and legendary images.
